Another brick in the wall

Supreme Court upholds voter ID law

Read, my friends, and be enlightened

My brain just exploded, but that's a good thing. See why here: You Are the River. Ken Wilber is speaking a language I sort of understand, and want to understand more. I foresee many trips to Amazon.com for more enlightenment.

Menu for week of 4/20/08

No menu this week. I spent my weekend shuttling my sick father home from the hospital and then back to get his car from the first hospital he visited (it's a long story - and he's better now), and so had no time or energy to plan or cook.

Back in the swing of things next week ...

I'll sleep good tonight

I set a new record for number of steps today: 13,314.

It all has to do with walking a little over a mile at lunch today, and then coming home and walking a little over 2 miles this evening.

I guess my doctor telling me to get my blood pressure down or she would put me on meds worked.

Menu for week of 4/13/08

I've missed doing this the past couple of weeks, and I want to get back on the bandwagon.

* chicken salad
* pizza with whole wheat crust
* shredded chicken, to make quick meals during the week
* chili & rice

I'm starting to think about cooking during the summer when I don't want to heat up the whole house with the oven and will want to do minimal stovetop cooking. I've got the crockpot, microwave, steamer/rice cooker, and toaster oven to work with, as well as making lots of "salad": chicken, turkey, egg, shrimp, etc. I also need to go through my program-friendly cookbooks and find what's lo-cook/no-cook.

Fine art?

Or maybe not ... Counterfeit art. Love it!

I might just change my mind

I am so not a wallpaper person, but the beautiful patterns at Bradbury & Bradbury might almost change my mind. They've got glorious Victorians, lush Arts & Crafts, and stunning Modern patterns. The Art Deco patterns alone are enough to make me want to hide my plaster walls in something difficult to remove.

But not quite. I think Hubby would stop me - I think ...

More bad news

Remember this post on the new slums?

Apparently, it's gotten worse - many lenders are foreclosing on properties and then not taking title to avoid taxes. Think how bad the new slums will be in this scenario ...

This is not an April Fool's post
